Engolasters Lake

Set 350m above Encampthe Engolasters Lake now provides electricity for the the hydro-electric power station situated next to the main road between Andorra La Vella and Encamp. Legend has it that there was a town of unfaithful here that was flooded over by the waters that created lake. At night witches met secretly here to bathe naked in the lake. Men from Englolasterswould sneak out to spy on the witches. If they were caught they would be turned into a black cat!

How to Get to Engloasters Lake

By Car

From Encamp follow the directions here. From Escaldes follow the road CS200 signed Engolasters up the hill. There is a carparkat Camp del Serratwhich is about 500m from the lake.

By Public Bus

From Andorra la Vella take Bus Line 4 - you can see the time table by clicking this link . Change buses at Escaldes. The timetables are shown here

Getting to the lake

The walk to the lake from the carpark or bus stop is arounnd 500m along a flat single track road. There is a path around the lake and over the damn. Swimming in the lake is absolutely forbidden. this is because water from the lake is used to power the hydro-electric turbines.

There are two wonderful restaurants overlooking the lake - Llac I Cel and La Dama del Llac

Our Suggested Walks and Activities around Egolasters Lake

1. Encamp to Engloasters Lake (4km round trips, 350m vertical rise, allow 2 - 3 hours)

The path begins in Encmap opposite the National Automobile Museum. The path climbs up through the woods, over the Blanc river emerging on to the start of the Cami de les Pardines and the eastern end of the lake.

2. Cami de les Pardines (4km round trip, flat most of the way)

The Cami de les Pardine is a gorgeous walk along the hillside with view points on Encamp and the surrounding mountains. The walk can start from either the lake or from near the 3km mark on the CS-220 road from Encamp to Els Cortals.

3. Bosca Adventura

Bosca Adventura is an adventure parks or zip wire, high ropes, swings and challenges. 25€ per adult, 20€ per teenager and 15€ per child. Have a look at their adventure site here
