Getting Around Costa Brava

When it comes to travelling around Costa Brave you are a little spolit for choice. Arriving in to Barcelona or Girona Airports you have the choice of trains, rental cars or buses. 

Rental Cars

The easiest, most flexible and quickest way to travel around Costa Brava is by car. The roads are very good and clearly signed. Each resort and town has charging points for electric and hybrid cars. Take care when renting a car that you have adequate insurance. Buying insurance from the rental company is expensive but it does offer peace of mind.

Taxis

If you don't like driving taxi's are plentiful throughout Costa Brava. Each town and resort has a taxi rank. Offical taxis are white with an organe official line down the front doors and on the bonnet. They have a 'Taxi' sign on the roof - illumintaed green means available, red not available!

Buses

Costa Brava has an efficient bus service which serves all the resorts from all the main towns and cities. Many of the beaches are also served by buses. Bus stops are clearly marked with red and yellow. timetables and destinations shown at each stop and each bus has the final destination clearly shown on the front. The main bus operators are:

Sarfa which operates jointly with Moventis, is the main bus operator on and around the Costa Brava.

Trains

The express train runs between Barcelona and Girona (40 minuntes). from Girona regular buses connect with the coastal resorts in northern Costa Brava. For train times look here

A regional train (R1) follows the coast from Barcelona with the final coastal resort being Malgrat de Mar before it heads up to Girona. The regional plan is shown below.
