Rental Cars

The roads in Mallorca are generally very good. Some care needs to be taken ont he mountain roads which sometimes can get quite narrow. A rental car opens up the whole Island and allows you to really explore after all it is only 60kms from Palma in the west to Alcudia in the east. Car rental is relatively good value and we have a choice of many suppliers. Take car when chosing, sometimes the cheaper optiosn work out more expensive as the cheaper rental companies may add additional charges.

Taxis

If you don't like driving taxi's are plentiful in Mallorca. Each town and resort has a taxi rank. Offical taxis are white with an organe official line down the front doors and on the bonnet. They have a 'Taxi' sign on the roof - illumintaed green means available, red not available!

Buses

Mallorca has an efficient bus service which serves all the resorts, Palma and the airport. Many of the beaches are also served by buses. Bus stops are clearly marked with red and yellow. timetables and destinations shown at each stop and each bus has the final destination clearly shown on the front. The Mallorca bus timetables and fares can be seen here while the Palma City EMT buses are here.

Train

Mallorca has two rail services.

Tren Soller is a fabulous journey from Palma to Soller. Departing from it's terminus in Palma the train follows the roads out of Palma, menadering through orange and lemon groves to Bunyola. From Bunyola the journey begins properly as the train climbs throguha  seris of switch backs and tunnels then descends into Soller. From Soller there is a tram service that runs down to Puerto de Soller.

A modern line links the terminus at Palma with Sa Pobla in the east (just a few kms from Alcudia) a spur from this line goes down to Manacor in the south east of the island.
