Liverpool

Liverpool is a friendly maritime city in northwest England. Situated at the mouth of the River Mersey - where the river meets the Irish Sea Liverpool was a major trade port between the 18th and 20th Centuries. More recently, well late 1960s Liverpool was the hometown of The Beatles's who started playing in the Cavern. Ferries cruise the waterfront, where the iconic mercantile buildings known as the "Three Graces" – Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building – stand on the Pier Head.

The Albert Dock has been revitalised and is the home to some wonderful museums - the Tate Modern, The Merseyside Maritime Museum and of course the Beatles Story.

Fly into Liverpool Airport. A regular bus links to both nearby railway stations and the city centre. Alternatively, rent a car and explore North Wales and perhaps the Lake District as well.

The coastal resort of Southport is easily accessible from Liverpool or take a few days to explore nearby North Wales - the Adventure Capital of the UK. Scroll down for a video to wet your appetite!
