Paradiski

Les Arcs and La Plagne form one of the iconic ski and snowboard areas in the Alps – with over 425kms of marked and prepared pistes, linked by 144 lifts from 1200m right up to 3250m there is skiing and boarding to keep every ability happy for a long, long time!

La Plagne

The La Plagne ski area is made up of 9 villages from the traditional alpine villages of Montchavin at one end and Montalbert at the other with the purpose built La Plagne Bellecote, Belle Plagne, Plagne Soleil, Plagne Centre, Plagne Village and Aime Plagne in between. The main ski areas above the purpose-built resorts offer wide open blues and reds which criss cross and interlink all the purpose-built resorts.

The Roche de Mio bubble lift opens up both the Belecote Glacier and also the back side of the ski area down to Champagny. The skiing over in Champagny is appears quite rough and ready in comparison to the otherside of the mountain but it is fabulous with big vertical drops – from Roche de Mio down to Champagny the vertical drop is 1500m and awesome views over the Vanoise National Park.

From the Bellecote glacier a glorious black drops down to the Bauches chairlift (a blue run carries on to the Vanoise cable car to Les Arcs – avoid this run unless you like pushing!)

Both the Montalbert and Montchavin sectors provide light relief to the big open runs above La Plagne with pistes that are cut through the woods.

Preffered Accommodation

Les Arcs

Les Arcs is made up of 4 purpose built alpine resorts, Arcs 1600 and 1800 are one side of the ski area with Arc 1950 and 2000 on the other. Lower down are the traditional alpine villages of Vallandry, Peisey and Villaroger.

From Arc 1600 wide open blue and red pistes link over to Arc 1800. When it is snowing carry on over to the tree lined slopes above Vallandry and Plan Peisey. The Vanoise Express – a 2 story cable that links Les Arcs with La Plagne departs from Vallandry.

The Transarc bubble lift up to Col de la Chal opens up the open bowl above Arcs 1950 and 2000. The runs down to Arc 1950 and 2000 are long and flattering. Things start to get interesting heading up to Grand Col with Refuge a wonderful sweeping black run. Head up to the highest point – Aiguille Rouge – a red winds back down towards the main bowl with a few black off including the Flying KL – where you can let go and see what your terminal velocity is! The Aiguille Rouge has the greatest vertical drop in the area – over 2000m. The run initially starts as a black and heads down to the top of the Lanchettes 4S chair when it morphs into a red run which winds down the mountain through the trees to Villaroger.

Les Arcs has plenty of skiing for all levels but when you take in to account La Plagne the ski area is absolutely awesome and one of our favourites out of all the French Alps!
