Nevis Range

Nestling next to Ben Nevis the highest mountain in Gtreat Britain, Nevis Range is not just Scotland's newest ski area but one of the newest in the world! Opened in December 1989 Nevis Range has the only mountain gondula lift in Britain. 

Nevis Range is located just 6 or so miles from Fort William just off the A82 main road from Fort William to Speen Bridge and Inverness. Most skiers and boarders drive to Nevis Range, however there is a regular bus from Fort William that stops at Nevis Range each day. This means that you can take the overnight sleeper train from London which leaves at 9pm, arriving into Fort William by am which measn you could be jumping on to the Gondula by 10am! 

 

The Skiing

The gondula rises 550m out of the forest car park to arrive up on the Neivs Range nursery slopes at 650m above sea level. Immediately outside the gondula are a series of drga lifts and the Great Glen Chairlift which serive the nursery area with a network of green and blue runs. Just to the right of the Alpha button lift there is a the first of two terrain parks.

From the top of the bubble lift a ski down the Quad Road accesses the Quad Chair - from the top of the chair blue runs wind back down to the base chairlift station and the top of the bubble lift. Alternatively jump on the Goose T bar for the long red pistes and also to access the summt button. 

From the summit button the fun really ebgins for the more adventurous opening up a number of black runs - Lemming Ridge, Warrens, Flight, Nid Wall and also the back corrie. The back corries is an off piste area with suggested itinerairies - Back Track, Yellow Belly, Winger Wall to name a few. The Braveheart chairlift opens up the lower two thirds of the back corries and allows access back towards the top of the bubble lift.


There is a snack bar at the bottom of the Goose T Bar, the Snowgoose Restaurant is at the top of the bubble lift while at the base station the Pine Martin Cafe offers a good selection of food and drink.
