Set high up in the Catalan Pyrenees lies Alp 2500; the collective name for La Molina and Masella ski area. 33 lifts link up 126 marked ski runs. La Molina was the first ski resort to open in Spain - the first lift was installed in 1943!

La Molina is the larger resort with a range of hotels, apartments, bars and restaurants.

Airport Transfers

Alp2500 is served by 2 interantional airports: BARCELONA and TOULOUSE. Teh transfer time from either airport is between 2 and 3 hours depending on the traffic and road conditions.

Beginners

Both La Molina and Masella have nursery slopes in the village centre. In Molina the nursery slopes are served by chairlifts, moving walk ways and drag tows. Beginners under the watchful eye of the Molina Ski School will soon progress to move up the mountain exploring the blue runs around Costa Rasa. They will get a real sense of achievement skiing the 6km blue run back home. Masella has moving walkways and drag tows serving its nursery slopes. After a couple of days beginners will start to use the chairlifts to the mid station and explore the blue runs through the woods back down to the base area.

Intermediates

Alp 2500 is a wonderful area for intermediate skiers. Take some time to explore the blues and reds around Costa Rasa above Molina before heading up the connecting bubble lift to Masella. Head down to the 6 man chairlift Jumbo Tosa to access the summit – here reds andblues drop down into the tree line then all the way down to the base at Masella.

Advanced

While not the largest ski area in the Pyrenees, Alp 2500 offers an interesting and varied alternative to Grandvalira in Andorra. There are some interesting blacks which drop the red run Comabella from La Tosa back to Molina. Or head off piste dropping on to the Olympic red. There are blacks off La Tosa heading down to the mid station above Masella. Or just let rip and let your skis carve down any one of the 42 fast wide red runs!
